The Death of an Icon

It's all over the media. And I can't go without saying anything about it. It's definitely a moment that will always be remembered in history. He was our Elvis. Our Beatles. But sadly, Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50.

Let's take a trip down memory lane shall we?? Because let's all face it. Thriller is the record that has sold more copies than any other album in history. I remember watching the vide and honestly being a little scared of the zombies.

But I ultimately got over it b/c the dancing was fucking AWESOME. You know you've tried to do the moves. It's THE goto song when Halloween arrives. We would have the Thrill the World event every year if that dance/song wasn't so BAD ASS.

People wouldn't perform it at their weddings if it wasn't so BAD ASS.

Let's also remember that it produced SEVEN top 10 hits from ONE album. Crazy talent my friend.

When I was younger, my cousin and I would cut out square pieces of white paper and tape them to the floor in the hallway to try to do the Billie Jean video. Oh yeah. WE WENT THERE.

And of course thre was the glove. We bought a pair of white gloves. He got one and I got one. We begged our grandma to sew sequins on them, but she never would. And my cousin always got the "right" glove. NO FAIR! *pouts even tho it's 24 years later*

I also remember going to the grocery store by our house. We rushed over to the small video section they had and alas!! there was one copy left of HIStory. We BEGGED our grandma to rent it for us. SHe finally gave in. I guarantee you when we got home and pulled in the driveway, the car wasn't even in park before we just out of the car and awaited anxiously at the door to view our new found treasure that belonged to us for however many days the rental was.

I'm pretty sure the Smooth Criminal video was on there and i thought it was the coolest thing EVER. I remember us trying to lean as far as we cold without falling down.

So in essence a piece of my childhood is now gone. All allegations of his private life aside, the man was a global icon. A musical genius. A master of dance. Truly deserving of the title The King of Pop, may you know rest in piece.

So Jason says he working overtime this weekend. WHICH BLOWS. He's basically working the ENTIRE weekend of my birthday. And he's working ALL of next weekend so there goes celebrating 4th of July with him but I already knew it was his long week so I was planning on spending it with my mom. But now he's working that Sunday as well. So basically the next available time for us to celebrate my birthday is Saturday July 11.

Baby Shower Invites!

No, not for me. For Jason's brother and wife. They are expecting a baby girl in August which gives Matthias a little cousin!!

I had the pleasure of creating her invites for her. The color scheme is the color scheme of the nursery, so it all ties together. Hooray for new babies that gave me something to do as I get bored very easily. I gave them a bunch of samples but they went for a simple card style invite. Here's some pics...

Roscoe is now "The Good One"

Before he was the bad one and Rufus was the good one. But with Petunia on board, that puppy dog is CUH-RAZY.

Roscoe loves to chill-lax in the sand box for some reason:

And those are my dogs.

Matthias is such a good helper!!

Last Sunday we washed both vehicles. (Translation: Jason mainly washed and I supervised) But Matthias was whining because he wanted to help. Whatever it is you're doing, he wants to do it too. But he's such a good helper. He really genuinely tries and it is THE. CUTEST. THING. EVER. Just sayin...

After finally getting a hold of the sponge, he promptly got down to work

Hugs for my Hubby

Last night after Matthias had gone to bed Jason and I settled for movie and popcorn time. But he's been real reserved lately. I keep asking him if he's ok, and he keeps saying he is. So I badgered him with the same question over and over. He finally said, "I just don't feel good ok?!!?"

I asked him, "Emotionally or physically?" He said, "Emotionally" I asked him why and he didn't answer, so I asked him two more times. He finally said, "I miss Rufus ok? I miss him a lot. I know Petunia is supposed to make me feel better but she doesn't yet. I like her, but it's not the same. I don't want to talk about it anymore."

SAD

So I just gave him a hug and let him put his head on my shoulder. I still miss him too. :o(

I have some bad news and some good news...

It's been a while since I've posted. We had a bad turn of events recently.

We took Rufus our Boston Terrier of 12 years to the vet because he seemed to have swollen legs and maybe retaining fluid. Turns out he had a massive tumor that was malignant and all of a sudden took a life of it's own. We thought we could get some meds and bring him back home. The vet informed us he was critical and wasn't sure what the diagnosis would be. He took some x-rays and called us back in the room. There was nothing we could do. It "hit him like train" and was undetectable. He recommended we put him down because surgery could not help him and he was in fact dying as we spoke. With heavy hearts Jason and I agreed that this was the best case for him so he would no longer suffer. I stepped around the table to see his little face so much more tired than he was not even an hour ago. His face pale and sad looking. I called him "Handsome" and told him I loved him. I stepped back and he stopped breathing. And he was gone.

Rufus was a Valentine's Day gift from Jason my senior year of high school. He was our first "child" my snugglebug, my lazy bones, my jogging partner, among other things. The house has a presence missing and it still sucks.

I wold like to take the time to say thank you to my friends who have been a valuable source of support. They've been there for me thru thick and thin and this time was no exception. I love yall!!

A couple of days later after a weekend of crying and moping we decided to go eat and we passed a group of people sellign some cute puppies. So desperately wanting to fill that void, I impulse purchased a toy poodle now named Princess Petunia Suzanne.

So it's a bittersweet scenario. I love our new puppy but we still miss Rufus. A lot of people say we gave him a good life and I truly truly hope we did. We miss you!!
