a weekend in December...

Gosh I feel like I've had a week off or something but it's only been a regular weekend.

Friday jason ended up being off for his birthday which was cool. On thursday night I made him some homemade brownies and stocked the fridge with his favorite beer so when he got off on Friday morning he would be set. I even put his favorite blue sprinkles n his brownies. Man, Jason sure does love sprinkles. I got home from work, went and paid some bills and then took a shower to meet Kim and Laura at Trudy's/ Only i went to the wrong Trudy's and ended up going home. I ate ramen again (damn tooth.) and Jason and I attempted to watch our netflix movies. We watched one and half of another before we both fell asleep.

On Saturday I cleaned house and started cooking little by little for his birthday dinner. Natalia stopped by for a little while in case I was unable to meet up with everyone at the potluck later on tat night. After that I ended up making chicken and beef enchiladas. I was very proud of myself for making my very first enchilada sauce from scratch I think my grandma would be proud. Then Jason's brothers and sisters came over and we all ate, drank and played some board games.

At about midnight when it was clearly boys and video games time, I left to go meet up with my friends at the potluck. I was glad I stopped by even if I didn't stay for that long. It looked like it was a success as always!

Then Temi oh so graciously dropped me off downtown so I didn't have to pay for parking. It was Mike's b-day and he was in town. I hadn't seen him in almost two years! I almost didn't go since it was already 1:30 but in the end I was so glad I did. I really missed him. YAY for Saturday nights!

Sunday I did absolutely nothing. No, I take that back. I finished my handmade tags for our presents and finished wrapping them as well. Now if Jason will only put up the tree...

Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will try to sleep in.
Tomorrow I will realize they are gone.
Tomorrow I will put on a brave face.
Tomorrow I will try not to cry but ore than likely fail miserably.
Tomorrow I will eat good food.
Tomorrow I will be thankful for what's left of my family.
Tomorrow I will miss her homemade gravy.
Tomorrow I will reminisce of the Thanksgivings past when our family was whole.
Tomorrow I will keep the hate out of my heart.
Tomorrow I will hug my son and think about all the things she taught me that will hopefully make me the best other I can be.
Tomorrow I will think of him in his sweatshirt he always wore.
Tomorrow I will think of their coffee mugs I have in my "special memories" box and how they drank coffee with their pie.
Tomorrow I will eat pumpkin pie b/c it's my fave.
Tomorrow I will be saved from visiting the infamous Soon to be In-Laws and be very VERY Thankful
Tomorrow will be my first holiday without my grandparents, my parents.
Tomorrow will be hard but as I've done thus far, I'll hold my head up high and pretend I don't have a hole in my heart.
Tomorrow I will wish my family was the way it once was.
Tomorrow I will be sad but i will also be thankful for my son, my fiance, my family that is left and my friends.
Because that's what it's all about.

Productive weekend

My Friday evening was quite lazy. I put the kiddo down to bed early and fell fast asleep. Twas nice.

Saturday I went and got my first fitting for alterations. The dress fit WAAY better than when I bought it. (Cheers for losing baby weight!) Then I went to my mom's and watched the REd Raiders get their ass handed to them. Texas is back on top in the BIG XII!!

Sunday I finished ALL, that's right ALL the embossing on the envelopes. I also hand stamped 100 RSVP cards with my pretty rose stamp. Now all I have to do is print them out.

I know it doesn't seem like much but trust me, it is.

Two songs...

I would conveniently like to NOT hear for a LONG time

1. I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry I don't care i you kissed a girl or not. No one really does. And if people claim they do they're trying too hard in life and are probably D-bags.

2. Paper Planes by MIA. Enough already.

Mel's wedding

Although I'm a little late in posting about it, better late than never! Melissa's wedding was GORGEOUS. The church was nice. The reception was beautiful. I feel that my wedding will in no way compare to the lst two I've been to. Oh well. The show must go on right??

I really liked the church they used. Small and quaint. Perfect. I'm not gonna lie though. The officiant was a bit ummm what's the word?DRamatic?? Borderline just plain weird. He emphasized words in strange places. Just weird. We had to fight from laughing at times. The pics I have are from far away so I'll only post a couple:

After the ceremony we all waited for the wedding party to take pic so we could follow them to the reception. We all then realized we were dressed in black. But who cares we all looked good. :o)

Photobucket

I don't know why but I really like this pic. I rarely see candid pics of myself that I like, but I like this one.

Photobucket

And we're off to the reception! It was so pretty in there.

So Kim caught the bouquet and Brad caught the garter.. hmmm. I think the contest was rigged...

Afterwards, Kim Laura and I forewent (is that a word?? It is now!) the Duck Tour and went downtown. We went to Lanai first where we ordered "Lanai's mexican martini" as opposed to a regular one. WTF. It was super spicy. So we took them back to the bar and find out they have habanero juice. HABANERO JUICE. ouchy. Jack met up with us and we went to Apple bar. I don't remember much after that but here's a pic that I don't remember...

Fun times. :o)

Relaxing Weekend

It was really nice. Low key. RELAXING.

Friday night I treated myself to "I don't care food" Frozen pizza from HEB which was really good btw, cheese sticks and wine. So healthy. lol Saturday I started doing laundry then Jason and I had a date night. SO LONG OVERDUE. I swear we hadn't been out on a date in 2 years maybe?? And going without Matthias was such a treat. I mean we love him of course, but it's nice to go alone. We went t Vivo's since I had been craving it for a long time and Jason had never been. So yummy. I am discovering I'm a little bit of a lightweight now. I had one mex mart and I was kinda loopy! After dinner we went to Kohl's to get Matthias some winter clothes. Then we started to miss him so we went back home. I don't know if it's cool that we were home by 9:00 or if it's kinda lame. We still had to go to Wal-Mart but we decided to take Matthias with us. We got him a couple more long sleeved shirts. His Christmas one says, "Dear santa, I really tried hard this year... Honest." After that Jason and I stayed up watching DVR'd stuff so we can clear out some space. Fun times.

Sunday I thought I would sleep in since I was up late the night before but alas I was up by 8:00. I laid in bed until 9:00 then migrated to the couch. At 10:00 I started making breakfast and got Matthias up. After that it was clean clean clean!

One of my biggest accomplishments this weekend was that I embossed 70 mailing envelopes for the invitations. Only 30 left and then 99 RSVP envelopes. At least I made a huge dent. :o)

Blah Monday

Not bad. Not good Just blah.

I did not , repeat DID NOT want to come to work today. Matthias got his shots this morning. Two boosters and a flu shot. You would think that by now I would no longer cry. Yeah right. The moment he gets a prick on his leg and he lets out that howl, it breaks my heart.

Jason was making fun of me last night about it. My mom said she cried too. I think all moms do. When we were sitting there with Matthias last night, he was sitting in Jason's lap. He just turned to me and said, "I love him so much. I never ever thought I would love something so much. I think I love him more than I love you. And I love you Veronica. But I love our son so much." And he teared up when he was saying it. And of course I teared up as well. But it's weird. B/c I feel the same way. There's just something about that little boy. He's the most amazing thing in the world. And the way Jason is with him. It's like this whole kind of new love that opens up. For this man. For this tough love man who melts when it comes to his son. It's great.

I've been following this Jennifer HUdson family case thingy all day today. What a sad sad story. What kind of mother fucker would kill a child? No one should have to endure a tragedy like that. So sad. It's kinda crazy how things like this make me SO sad. I could never imagine going through something like that. UGH. So horrible.

I am however liking the cooler weather today. But, it did contribute to my lethargy this morning. I can't wait to watch football tonight. Hopefully we can all snuggle on the couch. Ahh... those are the good nights. :o)

P.s. I just realized i jumped around to a lot of subjects. ADD much??

Tagged again!

Tagged by Christy this time

1. Link to the person that tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.

ok, here we go...

1. I have a slight case of OCD so i want to clean my ears all day. I always feel they're dirty so I get anxious and want to clean them, but my doctor advised me not to so Jason sometimes hides the Q-tips from me. I'm a freak!

2. I don't necessarily always wear make-up but I never leave the house without eyeliner.

3. I still sleep with my pillow I've had since I was 2. It's the size of an airplane pillow and it's as flat as a board. I can't fall asleep without it.

4. I have a weird obsession with the Titanic. I always buy books on it and get excited when they find new evidence.

5. I also have a weird obsession with true crime stories. One time E! did a story on the top 20 unsolved crimes. I googled all of them and bought books on them all.

6. I have a weird birthmark (?) on my right eye. It's this purple vertical line next to my iris.

ok, now I tag:
1. laura
2. Kim

and fellow knotties

3. Jill
4. Brooke
5. elyse
6. rena

well poop

Our book club meeting was supposed to be today during lunch. But it turns out the person originally said the wrong date so it's actually tomorrow. *sigh*

Tag isn't just for kids...

Jilly Jill tagged me! I feel so special. So without further adieu, here are 6 things that make me happy:

1. Matthias

Every day with him is so special. I can't wait for his first smile of the day. He's where my heart belongs. Sorry Jason!

Photobucket

2. Charleston Chews

They're my current chocolate addiction.

Photobucket

3. dirty martinis

Actually extra dirty martinis. no scratch that. skanky dirty martinis. mmmmmm

Photobucket

4. music

I jam out wherever I am. At work, in the car, at home, while "running.." It can bring me out of a funk.

Photobucket

5. Dogs

Sometimes I think I love dogs more than some people.

6. SHOES

enough said.

Photobucket

So now I tag:
Laura
Kim (when she gets her internet turned back on)

That's all b/c I think all the Knotties got tagged already ;o)

Sex on Fire

My official new favorite song.

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Sometimes...

When it's quiet at night and Jason is at work, and Matthias and the dogs are sleeping and i'm wide awake all alone... I suddenly realize I feel like a different person. Like I'm not myself. i struggle to find my identity as I sit on my couch. I glance up at the pictures of my grandparents. My grandpa looking quite strapping in his dress blues. My grandma all dolled up. There's a note on the bottom of the picture to my grandfather. And once again harsh reality sets in. They're gone. And I can't physically talk to them anymore. I feel like an orphan. All of a sudden I'm 4 years old lost in the mall. I'm frozen. I can't move. I'm scared. People are staring at me as if I have a scarlet letter singed on my forehead. I don't know who I am anymore.

I want people to ask me how I'm doing so I an talk it out. At the same time I don't want people to ask me about it b/c I don't want to experience the pain. So I'm secretly mad that people don't know what I want. That i don't know what I want. And then it hits again. Because I don't know who I am anymore. I'm now Veronica. With Dead Parents. And it sucks.

Oh Jim how I miss thee...

My thursdays are officially ruined. i tried to not let it get me down last week. Well, I was too busy to notice. But Thursday TV orgasm night is no longer. Fucking TIme Warner/KXAN bullshit. i don't give a shit who's lying. FIx the Shit and Fix it SOON.

B/c I don't know how much longer I an go without Seeing Jim and Dwight squabble. I seriously may load up Matthias and head over to jason's parent's house and commandeer Jason's dad's mini tv in the garage (it's not hooked up to cable)

Speaking of names...

Photobucket

Jason and I have gone back and forth over this. I really REALLY don't want to change my name. Nothing against him. AT ALL. I just don't understand why I have to be the one to change my name b/c of some antiquated "rule." So I get called a feminist. I told him I would compromise and hyphenate. That's not good enough. *sigh* Oh well, I guess we still have 4 months to fight about it. And really if I change my name I can't do my super cool name trick. Then how UNCOOL would I be??

Nametags

I thought I escaped from them when I left the retail world. Apparently i was wrong. Although it's not "mandatory" it's "highly recommended that we wear them. Translation: Wear them. It's not a big deal really. But I prefer my name to show my middle initial. My nametag doe snot reflect that. I fell like an imposter wearing the name of someone else... Who's Veronica Cantu? I'm Veronica N. Cantu. You must have me mistaken with someone else. heh heh

Weekend Part 5

On to Six! (the bar not the street as we had to clarify so many times at dinner.)

It was fun. I hadn't been there since they added so many elements. upstairs with a view. Dancing (yes!) in the middle, chill relaxed environemnt with pool tables and darts below. I thnk I may visit this place more often. i remember when it first opened. Or as I was telling everyone that night, "when Kim and I opened the bar" (ha!) there was only one part to it. Or maybe there was more but it wasn't as prominent as it is now. The only thing about upstairs was that the dang fans were on MESSING UP MY HAIR. But we did get some sexy model pics...

then we decided to leave. But before we do, lets tell the owners of Six tahat saloon style doors are not appropriate for restrooms. Thanks.

Onward to Apple Bar?? No we decided to let Jack pick. Prague. BAD MOVE. Jack at that point lost his bar choosing privileges FOREVER. WE ran into trouble, so Jager BOMBS! Then Red Fez. More trouble. Seriously, Jack, you're 0-2.

Photobucket
Photobucket

All in all, I had such a fun time this weekend. The various celebrations were great I wished Laura would've made it out on Saturday night tho... Laura, we missed you! Thanks to Kim for driving home as I was in no condition to drive. But I must admit, I'm pretty cute with squinty drunk eyes as you can notice in the pics. (the squinty eyes, not the cuteness... no, actually go ahead and notice the cuteness.)

BTW, still haven't finished my 101 list. I did start however. only 38 items on there. LAME.

Weekend Part 4

We had just left Cru and were walking over to Six. Melissa and Kim were walking in front of me so I didn't notice at first, but there was a man passed out on the ground with his head hanging off the curb. A lady was standing by him. We asked if she was all right. She said she was and that she didn't know the man. Her husband and she had dug thru his pockets and found out his name and where he worked. They also found what they thought was a work visa and so they didn't want to call the cops to get him arrested or deported. They called his job which was a restaurant up the road and that someone was coming over to get him. She thanked us for asking if things were ok and said that everyone else had either walked by or took pictures of the man passed out. NICE people. This was a situation where it did not look ok. Not some stereotypical scene where a drunken frat guy passes out.

Just then a man walks up and says he'll take care of this guy. he said, "he's had a bad time" then he says softer, "his brother was murdered last night" Wow. Poor guy. I wonder if that happened to me how distraught I would be. My prayers go out to him.

Weekend Part 3

Saturday night was Temi's b-day celebration at Cru. Not only were we there to see her but her new "friend." The atmosphere was nice. The wine was pricey. I tried to drink my glass slow. But it was nice to personalize the menu for her!

Photobucket

Me and my gorgeous friends!

Photobucket

Now before I go any further, let me take a moment to say that at this point on Saturday night, I had literally been drinking since Thursday night at the rehearsal dinner... We drank before the wedding Friday, at the wedding, downtown after the wedding, woke up at 9:30 and began drinking at 10:00 for the Texas/OU game... I did take a couple of hours off in b/w the game and dinner, but still, I was feeling good...

So all of a sudden a war was ensued. I'm not sure how it started, but apparently the main goal was to snap as many pictures of people without them noticing. WHy you ask? WHo knows? He's a few of the casualty pics... Oh and Temi's new man Bryan was the captain of the other team. I'm not sure who was on my team and who was on his but it was on!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

ANd seriously, how cute were Temi and Brian?? He was so intent in her words. Looking at her when she spoke. Her hand placed on his back from time to time. I miss that honeymoon phase. *sighs* But btw Temi, I APPROVE!
