Blah Monday

Not bad. Not good Just blah.

I did not , repeat DID NOT want to come to work today. Matthias got his shots this morning. Two boosters and a flu shot. You would think that by now I would no longer cry. Yeah right. The moment he gets a prick on his leg and he lets out that howl, it breaks my heart.

Jason was making fun of me last night about it. My mom said she cried too. I think all moms do. When we were sitting there with Matthias last night, he was sitting in Jason's lap. He just turned to me and said, "I love him so much. I never ever thought I would love something so much. I think I love him more than I love you. And I love you Veronica. But I love our son so much." And he teared up when he was saying it. And of course I teared up as well. But it's weird. B/c I feel the same way. There's just something about that little boy. He's the most amazing thing in the world. And the way Jason is with him. It's like this whole kind of new love that opens up. For this man. For this tough love man who melts when it comes to his son. It's great.

I've been following this Jennifer HUdson family case thingy all day today. What a sad sad story. What kind of mother fucker would kill a child? No one should have to endure a tragedy like that. So sad. It's kinda crazy how things like this make me SO sad. I could never imagine going through something like that. UGH. So horrible.

I am however liking the cooler weather today. But, it did contribute to my lethargy this morning. I can't wait to watch football tonight. Hopefully we can all snuggle on the couch. Ahh... those are the good nights. :o)

P.s. I just realized i jumped around to a lot of subjects. ADD much??

Tagged again!

Tagged by Christy this time

1. Link to the person that tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.

ok, here we go...

1. I have a slight case of OCD so i want to clean my ears all day. I always feel they're dirty so I get anxious and want to clean them, but my doctor advised me not to so Jason sometimes hides the Q-tips from me. I'm a freak!

2. I don't necessarily always wear make-up but I never leave the house without eyeliner.

3. I still sleep with my pillow I've had since I was 2. It's the size of an airplane pillow and it's as flat as a board. I can't fall asleep without it.

4. I have a weird obsession with the Titanic. I always buy books on it and get excited when they find new evidence.

5. I also have a weird obsession with true crime stories. One time E! did a story on the top 20 unsolved crimes. I googled all of them and bought books on them all.

6. I have a weird birthmark (?) on my right eye. It's this purple vertical line next to my iris.

ok, now I tag:
1. laura
2. Kim

and fellow knotties

3. Jill
4. Brooke
5. elyse
6. rena

well poop

Our book club meeting was supposed to be today during lunch. But it turns out the person originally said the wrong date so it's actually tomorrow. *sigh*

Sometimes I'm too anal.

Good book by the way. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Tag isn't just for kids...

Jilly Jill tagged me! I feel so special. So without further adieu, here are 6 things that make me happy:

1. Matthias

Every day with him is so special. I can't wait for his first smile of the day. He's where my heart belongs. Sorry Jason!

Photobucket

2. Charleston Chews

They're my current chocolate addiction.

Photobucket

3. dirty martinis

Actually extra dirty martinis. no scratch that. skanky dirty martinis. mmmmmm

Photobucket

4. music

I jam out wherever I am. At work, in the car, at home, while "running.." It can bring me out of a funk.

Photobucket

5. Dogs

Sometimes I think I love dogs more than some people.

6. SHOES

enough said.

Photobucket

So now I tag:
Laura
Kim (when she gets her internet turned back on)

That's all b/c I think all the Knotties got tagged already ;o)

Sometimes...

When it's quiet at night and Jason is at work, and Matthias and the dogs are sleeping and i'm wide awake all alone... I suddenly realize I feel like a different person. Like I'm not myself. i struggle to find my identity as I sit on my couch. I glance up at the pictures of my grandparents. My grandpa looking quite strapping in his dress blues. My grandma all dolled up. There's a note on the bottom of the picture to my grandfather. And once again harsh reality sets in. They're gone. And I can't physically talk to them anymore. I feel like an orphan. All of a sudden I'm 4 years old lost in the mall. I'm frozen. I can't move. I'm scared. People are staring at me as if I have a scarlet letter singed on my forehead. I don't know who I am anymore.

I want people to ask me how I'm doing so I an talk it out. At the same time I don't want people to ask me about it b/c I don't want to experience the pain. So I'm secretly mad that people don't know what I want. That i don't know what I want. And then it hits again. Because I don't know who I am anymore. I'm now Veronica. With Dead Parents. And it sucks.

Oh Jim how I miss thee...

My thursdays are officially ruined. i tried to not let it get me down last week. Well, I was too busy to notice. But Thursday TV orgasm night is no longer. Fucking TIme Warner/KXAN bullshit. i don't give a shit who's lying. FIx the Shit and Fix it SOON.

B/c I don't know how much longer I an go without Seeing Jim and Dwight squabble. I seriously may load up Matthias and head over to jason's parent's house and commandeer Jason's dad's mini tv in the garage (it's not hooked up to cable)

Speaking of names...

Photobucket

Jason and I have gone back and forth over this. I really REALLY don't want to change my name. Nothing against him. AT ALL. I just don't understand why I have to be the one to change my name b/c of some antiquated "rule." So I get called a feminist. I told him I would compromise and hyphenate. That's not good enough. *sigh* Oh well, I guess we still have 4 months to fight about it. And really if I change my name I can't do my super cool name trick. Then how UNCOOL would I be??

Nametags

I thought I escaped from them when I left the retail world. Apparently i was wrong. Although it's not "mandatory" it's "highly recommended that we wear them. Translation: Wear them. It's not a big deal really. But I prefer my name to show my middle initial. My nametag doe snot reflect that. I fell like an imposter wearing the name of someone else... Who's Veronica Cantu? I'm Veronica N. Cantu. You must have me mistaken with someone else. heh heh

Weekend Part 5

On to Six! (the bar not the street as we had to clarify so many times at dinner.)

It was fun. I hadn't been there since they added so many elements. upstairs with a view. Dancing (yes!) in the middle, chill relaxed environemnt with pool tables and darts below. I thnk I may visit this place more often. i remember when it first opened. Or as I was telling everyone that night, "when Kim and I opened the bar" (ha!) there was only one part to it. Or maybe there was more but it wasn't as prominent as it is now. The only thing about upstairs was that the dang fans were on MESSING UP MY HAIR. But we did get some sexy model pics...

then we decided to leave. But before we do, lets tell the owners of Six tahat saloon style doors are not appropriate for restrooms. Thanks.

Onward to Apple Bar?? No we decided to let Jack pick. Prague. BAD MOVE. Jack at that point lost his bar choosing privileges FOREVER. WE ran into trouble, so Jager BOMBS! Then Red Fez. More trouble. Seriously, Jack, you're 0-2.

All in all, I had such a fun time this weekend. The various celebrations were great I wished Laura would've made it out on Saturday night tho... Laura, we missed you! Thanks to Kim for driving home as I was in no condition to drive. But I must admit, I'm pretty cute with squinty drunk eyes as you can notice in the pics. (the squinty eyes, not the cuteness... no, actually go ahead and notice the cuteness.)

BTW, still haven't finished my 101 list. I did start however. only 38 items on there. LAME.

Weekend Part 4

We had just left Cru and were walking over to Six. Melissa and Kim were walking in front of me so I didn't notice at first, but there was a man passed out on the ground with his head hanging off the curb. A lady was standing by him. We asked if she was all right. She said she was and that she didn't know the man. Her husband and she had dug thru his pockets and found out his name and where he worked. They also found what they thought was a work visa and so they didn't want to call the cops to get him arrested or deported. They called his job which was a restaurant up the road and that someone was coming over to get him. She thanked us for asking if things were ok and said that everyone else had either walked by or took pictures of the man passed out. NICE people. This was a situation where it did not look ok. Not some stereotypical scene where a drunken frat guy passes out.

Just then a man walks up and says he'll take care of this guy. he said, "he's had a bad time" then he says softer, "his brother was murdered last night" Wow. Poor guy. I wonder if that happened to me how distraught I would be. My prayers go out to him.

Weekend Part 3

Saturday night was Temi's b-day celebration at Cru. Not only were we there to see her but her new "friend." The atmosphere was nice. The wine was pricey. I tried to drink my glass slow. But it was nice to personalize the menu for her!

Photobucket

Me and my gorgeous friends!

Photobucket

Now before I go any further, let me take a moment to say that at this point on Saturday night, I had literally been drinking since Thursday night at the rehearsal dinner... We drank before the wedding Friday, at the wedding, downtown after the wedding, woke up at 9:30 and began drinking at 10:00 for the Texas/OU game... I did take a couple of hours off in b/w the game and dinner, but still, I was feeling good...

So all of a sudden a war was ensued. I'm not sure how it started, but apparently the main goal was to snap as many pictures of people without them noticing. WHy you ask? WHo knows? He's a few of the casualty pics... Oh and Temi's new man Bryan was the captain of the other team. I'm not sure who was on my team and who was on his but it was on!

Photobucket

ANd seriously, how cute were Temi and Brian?? He was so intent in her words. Looking at her when she spoke. Her hand placed on his back from time to time. I miss that honeymoon phase. *sighs* But btw Temi, I APPROVE!

Weekend Part 2

So we went to jeremy's to watch the Texas/OU game. I was a bit nervous since we were playing #1 ranked Ou. But in all seriousness, who are we kidding? We whooped that ass! Once the game was over we ate some burgers. Matthias had a fun time. running around again. How does this kid get so much energy? He ran around the ENTIRE previous night at the wedding. Ahh to have that much energy.

Here's Bogart wanting to hog some attention

Matthias got in the beer. Thank God it was closed

Matthias lovin him some ketchup...

P.S. Horns are #1 bitches!!!

Weekend Part 1

Since this weekend seeme duber long, I'll break it up into pieces. I left work early so Jason could make it to Andrea & Josh's run through on time. The rehearsal dinner immediately followed at hi parents. It was nice. Laid back. No pictures though. I couldn't find my damn camera battery charger.

Friday was the day of the wedding. Still couldn't find my damn camera battery charger. We had to end up going to buy one for $50. So I can now virtually charge and camera battery known to man. I've been thinking and I think I'll open  up a camera battery charger shop in my garage. Prohibition-era style.

So we got ready and headed out. Had to be there an hour early so Jason and the rest of the groomsmen could take pics... Here's one I snapped behind the professional photographer:

Photobucket

So Jason was busy snapping pics. Matthias was busy RUNNING A MUCK. OK not really, but serously, that kid has some energy. He was just running back and forth on the grass. I think it's b/c it was cushy. Which on any normal day owuld've been fine. But I was in heels and kept sinking into the damn ground.

Photobucket

Then of course he got thirsty. Jamie's a good helper with him.

Photobucket

Time to sit down. It was nice to have them use the same ceremony musicians as us so I got to see them in action. Here's Jason escorting the bride's grandma. Which of course makes me sad.*sigh*

Photobucket

And of course the beautiful bride. Her bouquet colors were so pretty.

Photobucket

And that's pretty much all I saw of the ceremony. Matthias started to get fussy and wanted to get down and walk around. So it was either have him walk around behind the chairs or have him start crying.I know I wouldn't want that, so I got up and walked him around so I missed the ceremony. SAD. Ah well... on to the reception! Oh and mental note to self... they went thru 30 bottles of wine in 1.5 hours. She said her friends were alcoholics, so I might not need that much. Evidently she hasn't met my friends...

This has to be one of the cutest pictures I've ever seen

Photobucket

Seriously, why can't Jason just take a normal picture??

Photobucket

And he wonders why Matthias does this.. Dayum. He's all up in there

The end of the night. At that point we were hoping Matthias would sleep for a LOOOOOOONG time.

Photobucket

Josh told us to meet him at the Stephen F Austin at the bar where they were staying. We tried to convice jeremy to go but he said he "had other plans" mmm hmmm Prolly trying to get laid. So Jason and i went but by the time we got there, they weren't there. We figured since we had paid for parking we may as well go out. So we went to Apple Bar, my fav! I just happened to be looking out the door when I saw them walk by. So Jason runs out and they all come in. But Josh is FUCKED UP. (I remind myself not to drink that much on my wedding day.) Screaming and cheering for God knows what. Then he immediately passes out on the couch. Apparently, this is what a man looks like a few hours after he gets married. Beaten, defeated... lol

Photobucket

And I finally got a pic with the bride. Fun times.

Photobucket

So here's some mental notes from Friday night:

Order more alcohol for our wedding. Don't drink a whole lot and don't let Jason drink a whole lot. Give the DJ a DO NOT play list. Make sure you get a good idea of what the DJ will play. For other purpose. No matter how much you loe a dress, if it doesn't look good, don't wear it Veronica. You looked like a beached whale in black satin. Nix that a Killer WHale. Orca if you will. NICE. Even if you are going to be taller than Jason in pictures b/c you can't live without heels, don't slouch. Your posture looks horrible and it makes you look fatter. Just be taller than him. Get over it. Cheers to a fab wedding!

New project

I think I need to make some door knob covers for the door knobs. Matthias has learned how to unlock doors. Well, he's known for quite some time, but he's almost figured out how to open the door. YIKES!

I can't find any cute ones though. The only thing I can find is this:

http://www.christinascrochethaven.com/door_knob_cover.htm

And dang this bitch is hardcore about her copyright. lol

Speaking of crafts, I made Andrea some wine glasses and etched her initial on it. I think I will make more in the near future...

But i guess I should get on this 101 list thingy.

Jumping on the Bandwagon... REALLY late

So here it is. Finally. It's really supposed to be my 101 in 1001 days. But in all seriousness, I can't for the life of me think of 101 things to do. Really, my days consist of making sure Matthias eats his daily amount of nutritional goods and making sure Jason doesn't feed him cheese puffs all day long. *sigh* It's not that he doesn't care about his nutrition.. he claims that Matthias will not eat with him. I gander it's b/c he exhibits  no patience with with the kid but what do I know?? I'm at work while all this goes on. But I digress... so I'll start on a list of things. Laura tired to get me to do this a long time ago, but for some reason I couldn't figure it out. So I'll take another go...

So, other than trying to compose a list of goals which I assume I will never obtain, not much else is going on. The regular. I feel like such a lameass lately. The kiddo takes up all my time. And I don't really mind. Only when I talk to people and they ask, So what's new?" Then I feel like a loser. Or when when I post blogs. Yeah. LOSER. I guess wedding plans are going ok. I've gotten back in the planning mode. I made my diagrams of the ceremony set-up and almost completed the diagram for the reception. Of course I ask Jason for his opinion and he says, "yeah..." ummm ok. But again, all of our attention revolves around Matthias. Last night he looked uber cute in his knit pants. Why is it infant pants are so cute? Is it b/c they're so small?? And of course he's all into putting his shoes on, so he had some sneakers on. You know, to complete "the look."

As we were walking up to Jason's parents door last night it was really a weird reality check. I remember when his parents bought that house back in '97. And here we are 11 years later with a kid. FO REALS. Jason was holding his hand helping him was up to the front door. It's just one of those moments... Those ones where you seem like an outsider looking in and the moment is so endearing. You fall in love all over again and you realize that no matter how shitty your days are, at the end of it, I go home to a wonderful family. *fluffy feeling inside* ;o)

Ok enough sappiness for the day.
